the route

The Barrhead 10k 2008 route, as a result of some very minor changes, now has some major improvements – which means our runners can have an even more enjoyable experience that last year!

Once again the race starts in Cowan Park, but there is now a circuit around the park’s historic bandstand before exiting on to Aurs Rd. Travel SE up Aurs Rd then R into Springfield Rd. Opposite St Luke’s School, take a L into Balgraystone Road and follow this south to a T-juction with Glanderston Road. Turn R into Glanderston Road and this section takes you past the famous Craigie hill. At the next T-junction, turn R into Springhill Rd. Travel north on this road, straight through the Fiveways junction, then take a R onto a footpath that skirts parkland and comes out beside St Luke’s. Left into Springfield Rd again, past St Luke’s then after the wide curve at the top of Aurs Rd, a fantastic, long, straight and fast downhill section, leading back to Cowan park and the finish line.
